Humanitarian and development organisations face myriad of technical and operational challenges as they respond to emergencies and early recovery contexts. One of the major issues faced is the steady decline in funding, which significantly hampers the ability to operate effectively. Furthermore, accessing vulnerable populations in hard-to-reach (H2R) areas has become increasingly difficult, making it nearly impossible to provide necessary support where it is most needed.

On 23 November, a landslide struck central Sri Lanka after a week of heavy rains, strong winds, floods, and lightning, causing fatalities. As of 24 November, media reports confirm six fatalities and five survivors rescued and hospitalised following the landslide, which hit a roadside shop on the Colombo–Kandy main road in Ganetenna, Pahala Kadugannawa, Sabaragamuwa province. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area. Media also report that a total of 800 people have been affected by the severe weather-related incidents over the past week. (ECHO, 24 Nov 2025)

We are saddened by the Earthquake that has struck eastern Afghnaistan. on 31st of August 2025. This comes at a time of funding cutts, reconrd return and increasing humaniatrian needs. We understand local actors  (NGOs, CSOs and volunteers) do not have the resources and time to  bid for competitev proposals in a challenging funding context.  we want to help them. True to our humanitarian values and our principled approach to  humanitarian and development work, we are offering pro bono  proposal writting and programme developement for the comming months. 

At Abdulahi Consulting  we emphasise that its vital that refugees, Asylum seekers, stateless persons and immigrants access to safe and secure services in public institutions (Health Care, Education and others like goventment offices) and that they can confidently in their own language communicate without worrying about tranlations and interpretation. this is vital in critical situations such as in health care settings.
