At Abdulahi Consulting we emphasise that its vital that refugees, Asylum seekers, stateless persons and immigrants access to safe and secure services in public institutions (Health Care, Education and others like goventment offices) and that they can confidently in their own language communicate without worrying about tranlations and interpretation. this is vital in critical situations such as in health care settings.
Our approach is rights based and tailored to individual needs. Our roster members have supported persons that requrie life saving and emergency assistance, who otherwise could not have clearly communicated their message or in some cases rely on their relatives.
Children Should not be Interpretors
In many Refugee and Asylum seeker communities were family dynamics and living situations are complicated, there is the need to protect children in interpreation services. By Knowing things that they shouldnt about their parents in inpreptations, we believe children can be impacted and we ave to protect them and support their parents in the process. in most cases, we have seen that parents are quite happy to get interpretation services, so its win win for everybody
Why Somali Language ?
We are at present offering services in Somali language translation and interpreations as we think the Somali community in Ireland is in need of these services which are very critical to them. There are gaps in translation and interpretation servcies offered in this domain and after consulatations, many of the elderly communities informed us the importance of having this service in non-judgmental, free and supportive manner in public institutions mainly in health care.
